Gary Merritt

In loving memory of Uncle Gary, taken from us too soon. Uncle Gary enjoyed life and lived it to the max. He will leave a big hole in the family and will be dearly missed.

Really sad news. I remember Boomer from the glory days of the 42 Survey Hockey Club. I remember him as a great guy always willing to give his time to the younger members of the team, always helping to organize stuff, and always keen to ensure the team had that dynamic that would enable it to succeed. It is hard to think of him and not smile as many of the old memories of my time around that team included him, and he always smiled. How fitting it make me smile when I think of Boomer and Jockey being reunited again, and I can almost hear them singing 'were climbing up the sunshine mountain'. My sincere condolences. Rest in peace Boomer.

RIP Gary. I have fond memories of serving with you and playing hockey together for both Survey Hockey Club and Newbury Hockey Club. I thank you for your friendship and you will be missed by many. My condolences to your family

I worked with Boomer on many occasions during my military career. He was always a fantastic colleague to work alongside...I remember him fondly. Cheers Gary, you were a top man.

A compassionate, caring and wonderful person, I worked alongside Gary in the army. My sincere heartfelt condolences.

Gary and I joined the army on the same day in 1976 and both having chosen to be printers we served our apprenticeship at the same time. From there we were together during our engineer training at Cove. Gary was then posted to Barton Stacey and I went to Germany. We served together again many times over the years including completing the same class 2 together. At one pint we were next door neighbours at Hermitage. I am lucky and privileged enough to have had Gary as a friend and he will always be in my fondest memories. A real gentleman who will be sadly missed by all who knew him. My deepest sympathies and condolences to all of his family.

I had the pleasure of playing hockey both with and against Gary (Boomer) on many occasions - he was a great player and leader. I send my sincerest condolences to his family and friends at this saddest of times. R.I.P Gary.

I was so sorry to hear the sad news of Gary's tragic death. We joined the army together in September 1976 as 16 year old. We shared a room at the Army Apprentices college in Chepstow and then served in 13 sqn at Barton Stacey, he a printer and me a cartographer. We lost touch when I left the army in 1982, but I have very happy memories of Gary as a good friend as we grew from boys to men. Please accept my deepest condolences at your loss. May Gary rest in peace and rise in glory.
